A year after the release of the Samsung S2 watch, the massive retailer has released the new design and features of its latest models, the Samsung Gear S3 Classic and the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier. Unveiled at this year’s IFA 2016 conference, the new and stylish design appears to be a modern day show stopper.
This year’s releases boast a timeless classic design embedded with modern wearable technology. The Samsung Gear S3 appears to offer premium aesthetics with a sleek, modern, eye-catching design.
While the Samsung S2 will continue in the line-up, the two new additions each offer their own new features and style to an impressive line. Distinctively different, each model offers its own personality in design and function.

The new design reinvents the standard norm of smartwatches in the market. Alternative devices sport a minimalistic design that echoes the look and function of a cell phone, just shrunk to a wrist sized version. The design of the Samsung Gear S3 departs from these previous examples to pave its own way in the world of wearable technology.
The beauty of the simplicity in these designs comes from the fact that standard components of a watch have been transformed into technological controls giving you the ability to access apps, respond to text messages, check the weather, and more.
Normal face borders, the bezel, and function buttons around the perimeter, have been transformed into efficient controls that seamlessly blend into the aesthetics of the overall watch.
Both sport the stainless steel bezel which invokes a feel of powerful gears and modern strength in design. The classic leather band lends an ageless impression, together creating a timepiece worthy of any event, any time.
This or That? The Style that Suits Your Needs
Both styles are built off of last year’s model of round faces and a twisting bezel that is used to operate the tech features. The size of the watch confers technorati regal and demands attention for its subtle and classic design.
It has a sharp and masculine appearance, which bodes well for a male clientele but may not suit a female wrist size.
The Gear S3 Frontier is intended to look more athletic and sporty. It has a rugged, adventurous look that is geared toward those who want a G-Shock comparable with the functionality of a Smartwatch.
The Gear S3 Classic, however, has a more high-end look, with a luxurious and elegant design. It is intended for those who are in the market for a designer time piece with the hidden features of a smartwatch.
Regardless of your choice, the watch face hardware with the stainless steel bezel and premium materials exudes a sense of luxury. The Samsung S3 is designed and delivers on its promise to be a versatile watch that is intended to take you from work to play, day to night.

The addition of triple tap safety monitoring is an especially valuable tool. Three successive pulses on the bezel results in an SOS function that contacts emergency services with your location.
Additionally, the advent of the Samsung Pay function allows you to buy on the go. This state of the art technology at your fingertips allows you to swipe your watch as payment even if you don’t have your phone or wallet.
Don’t worry about a breech in safety, as the watch has a built in security features that require a specific pin and is deactivated when the watch is not on your wrist.
To ensure the safety of your timepiece, each model has a watch face screen covered in Corning Gorilla Glass SR+. Both styles are IP68 water and dust resistant up to 5 feet for 30 minutes. This features ensure the daily use of your device without fear of damage or destruction.
In keeping with previous models, the Gear S3 styles function with Samsung’s Tizen Based Wearable Platform 2.3.2. operating system. The new line is compatible with Android smartphones with Android 4.4 or above. The phones also require at least 1.5GB of RAM to work properly.
Samsung had previously proposed iOS support on its smartwatch technology in January. The reality of this cross functionality is questionable and the trials currently underway suggest it is unlikely that dual support of both operating systems will not be in place for the release of the Gear S3.
With only a preliminary launch of design available, it is hard to determine a final verdict on the new Gear S3. With that being said, the biggest question mark remains around the price of the soon to be released time pieces.
If Samsung manages to match its previous price range of the S2 around $300 it could become a competitive addition to the market. If the technological innovations such as a larger screen, GPS enabled tracking, and higher quality materials become a factor, the price could jump as high as $400 according to some sources.
Comparable devices produced by other leading industry companies have similar proposed prices, depending upon select features.
Regardless of the unknowns, the new products look intriguing enough to keep our attention for a bit longer. Stay in touch with updates and the release date on Samsung’s website.
