Shadowmatic Review – Improving on the Concept of Originality

If you’ve ever tried of making shadow puppets with your hands while you were a kid, then Shadowmatic might prove to be a striking resemblance to that pastime. While the App Store is riddled with clones of familiar games, it is quite hard these days to create a game that you can truly call an original concept. This is what the idea of this particular iOS game is about to unfold into your device. While it s a game, it can also be deemed as an art form.

Shadowmatic Review - Improving on the Concept of Originality

Shadowmatic Brings a Moment of Zen to Your Leisure Time, Well, at the Beginning Anyway

Your role in Shadowmatic is pretty much straightforward – you will have to play with revolving around and manipulating either one or a series of peculiar shapes so that their shadow will resemble something that is of a different entity. There is an indicator found at the bottom of your screen that will let you know how close you are to casting the shadow of the current objective. The idea here is to keep on twisting, revolving, and turning until you get a familiar object, or animal, for the shadow, no matter how obscure the object/s become.

At the early levels of Shadowmatic (iOS), they do bring a feeling that is reminiscent to a Zen-like state. You will start with one object to play around with and you will manipulate the thing to cast the required shadow in the background. However, the difficulty can ramp up as more objects are thrown into the mix. Switching between objects are governed by a virtual pad found in the bottom left of the screen.

The faster that you are able to cast the required shadow using the objects, the more points you are able to rake in. Those that are unable to find the right move for the shadow can use a series of hints. However, these hints can be so cryptic that it defeats the purpose of them being able to offer any kind of help in the first place.

Another challenge brought about by the game is that you are able to spin the objects for a full 360-degrees. Therefore, it can appear that you’ve already solved the challenge, but you don’t know it yet because you haven’t made the right angle for the shadow to be cast in the right way.

In every sense, Shadowmatic is a shape sifter of a puzzle game. It is a mobile game downloadable for iOS devices, and delivers mind-boggling puzzles that are sure to exercise your brain cells.
