The Sennheiser PMX 685i Sports is made in collaboration with the popular sports apparel manufacturer, Adidas. With the combination of both brands, they have produced a five-strong in-ear sports earphones that are made for the mid-range market. Still, this is pricier than its two neckband-style variants.

Even though these are sports earphones, the band of the Sennheiser PMX 685i Sports is not ideal for all types of exercise. Why? Because they might get in the way during floor work or gym-goers. Still, it does the job it is cut out to do – keeping the buds stable and secure on your head. It is made conveniently lightweight and it is also quite flexible for a universal fit. There are old-school plastic buds that spring into your ears without much hassle.
The PMX 685i Sports are, for the most part, comfortable while being worn. However, it can be a little hard on the ears after an hour or two while within a workout session. Also, not everyone will be convinced by its looks. Even though they are placed at a mid-range price point, they kind of look cheaper than they really are. The plastic frame is quite plain and the embellishment does not go beyond that tiny Adidas logo.
However, once you get a feel, or rather a hear for the performance, then you might not bother about how it looks. You would even be hard-pressed to find holes in its audio performance. It delivers a rich, weighty presentation, which is quite rare at its price class.
For instance, if you play Kanye West’s “Stronger” and you will gratuitously marvel at those robotic vocals that are spread out across the track. They bear a solidity that is, by far, unmatched by most of its rivals. There are also plenty of low end frequencies to go around as the bass-line will thump happily inside your ears with enough depth and drive.
Picture your gym routine with the Sennheiser PMX 685i Sports and you would not bother anyone else who’re probably looking at you as you get yourself lost in the wonderful sound performance of these earphones. Still, if you’re routine involves a lot of floor work, then perhaps you might want to take them off for a bit then put them back on when you’re done.
