The Samsung UE65JS9000 is just a step down from the company’s own UE65JS9500 in terms of performance and price. However, if you think for one second that this is a TV that is easily within reach, then you have to think again. Even though it comes at a lower price as compared to its scarily expensive sibling, it can still easily break banks. But what it does have is it can still deliver quality HDR (high dynamic range) support, sports a curved screen, boasts a native 4K resolution, and delivers Samsung’s Tizen smart system.
In terms of design aesthetics, the Samsung UE65JS9000 is still pretty much similar to the UE65JS9500 with subtle differences. To start, the edges do not angle sharply back towards the screen.. This means that its design does not immerse you into the picture as much. Surprisingly, however, is that its flatter look makes you feel more aware of the display’s curvature. While this is not necessarily a shortcoming, there are some who would prefer such a look.
Still in comparison with its flagship sibling, the UE65JS9000 is a little wider at the sides. Therefore, Samsung has decided to shift from direct LED lighting to edge LED lighting. But what is noticeably different in terms of design is that it is quite reserved when looking at its rear.
Notable features include native 4K UHD resolution and HDR playback compatibility. The former brings about a 3,840 x 2,160 pixel count, which means it delivers four times the resolution than normal HD screens. The latter feature makes the unit capable of delivering content with high dynamic range standard. In other words, images will contain a wider luminance and color range as what you would expect from normal home video formats.
Even though it is placed in a “mercifully” lower price point, this particular UHD TV hits the same miraculous sweet spot as the UE65JS9500. It is still able to deliver next-generation thrills in image performance which can be very hard to live without. Colors look exceedingly bright and full of punch, especially when viewing HDR footage. However, thanks to the extra luminance at the heart of the unit, it manages to retain naturally vivid color saturations, even in dark picture areas.
What’s more is that the Samsung UE65JS9000 is not only stunning to be used for movies or TV shows, it is a great piece of technology for gaming. It injects videogame graphics with intense brightness, color punch, and contrast that every gamer would ever dream of. So if you’re a gamer, or one who likes movies, or a person who enjoys watching weekly shows, then this is the TV to get (provided your spending allowance allows it).
