The Philips Fidelio B5 looks and feels like a great innovation to audio-giving technology. It has a pair of detachable wireless speakers that deliver true surround sound. This technology is named as “Surround on Demand” by the company. The device is a follow-up to the Phillips HTL9100 which had already given great sound offerings a couple of years ago. This time around, the B5 is equipped with new features and a lower price tag.
The Philips Fidelio B5 Cuts Prices But Not Features
The beauty of the Philips Fidelio B5 lies within its rear speakers as you can just whip it out whenever you want. This can be great for those family movie nights right at home. Afterwards, you can just stow it away behind the unit once more without worry of messing up your minimalistic preferences with regards to your home entertainment system.
It is a great looking soundbar as it has the company’s customary flair to it. It has the same “airfoil” look that the HTL9100 had. There are those alluring curves located at the front and the rear that makes it look like it was fashioned out of a teardrop when taking a look at the device from the side. The unit is mostly covered with a black cloth with a brushed silver panel found at the middle. This silver panel is what separates the left and right speakers. The build quality is solid and robust, which is what you would expect for its price.
The only button found in the Fidelio B5 is the power key. This will glow red during standby. There is also an NFC touch point that is found behind the right-hand speaker cloth. A large display panel sits comfortably at the left side which will provide all the necessary information about the inputs and volume levels of the unit. However, the panel faces upward when laid on a flat surface. Hence, it can be fairly difficult to see under such circumstance, but it is not impossible.
As for performance, it delivers stunning audio with a powerful and refined sound. The rear speakers bring a whole new level of surround sound on demand. The sound quality brings you closer to a true home-cinema experience than just about any other soundbar found on the market. Simply put, there are so many positive things that can be said about the B5 that it is difficult where to begin.
Perhaps what’s appealing in a similar level with the Philips Fidelio B5 and its sound quality is its price. It has that high-end look and feel but placed in a price range that is fairly easy on the wallet.
