Klipsch R-4B Review – Decent Sound, But Falls Short

The Klipsch R-4B is a soundbar that aims to improve the sonics that are produced by your television. It has all the features that you would expect from a wireless subwoofer. It also has Bluetooth connectivity to promote optimal connection around your living room. While this looks mighty impressive right off the bat, when you think about it, technology has already moved on to things that can be ramped up significantly. There are models like the LG LAS751M and the Yamaha YAS-203 which have shown features and sound quality that are great at their own price class.

Klipsch R-4B Review - Decent Sound, But Falls Short

The Klipsch R-4B is Great But Technology Has Moved Farther Ahead

If you’re a diehard Klipsch fan, then you might consider getting the Klipsch R-4B. But if you’re not, then maybe some other soundbar that can offer better in terms of performance, quality, and feature sets will be worth your hard-earned cash.

But if you do decide on getting the Klipsch R-4B soundbar, here’s what you’re going to get. First of all, its design is rather macho-looking. However, this may all be for its exterior. In truth, it offer a little less testosterone while still being able to resemble a family-type device.

It is 40-inches wide and contains two 2.5-inch woofers. These work in conjunction with dual 3/4-inch horn-loaded soft dome tweeters. For the main speaker, it houses a readout found in its middle with text. While the company’s R10 and R20 speakers featured large subs, the R-4B uses more compact variants.

The R-4B is a 2.1-channel sound bar that has a wireless subwoofer. It is primarily designed to easily hook up with your TV with the aid of an optical cable. It can also be used for listening to music that are streamed from a Bluetooth capable device.

Like its cousins, brothers, and sisters, the R-4B will be able to decode Dolby soundtracks but not DTS found in your Blu-ray discs or DVD. This soundbar is not a true surround-sound model. However, it does come with several mode that offer a similar experience such as Voice Enhance, Virtual Surround, and Night Mode.

As for sound performance, the R-4B is certainly up to modern standards. Hence, it can put its talents into perspective as it can produce a larger overall sound. There is low, rumbling hum of the sounds being produced as the air circulation inside the room where the device is found provides a deep foundation of audio.

While it does deliver a decent array of features, the Klipsch R-4B is still a step away from the competition. There are other soundbars in today’s market that can offer more while still being in the same price class.
