The Honda Civic Hatchback is not the same vehicle that was premiered at the recent Geneva Motor show. However, this particular event in Hell’s Kitchen was made to confirm that the vehicle is headed to markets as a 2017 model.
It will either be called the Civic Hatchback or the Civic 5-Door once it appears in production form. This compact car is built exclusively in the firm’s British plant in Swindon. This particular prototype has a different form for the Canadian market. Nonetheless, the alternate design will still pick up on design cues that were established by the Euro-spec version of the vehicle. This has die-hard Honda fans excited for many years now.
Although there is little known about the upcoming car, especially in terms of hardware and technical detail, the auto manufacturer did announce that the car would be powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine which is able to dish out 175 horsepower. The engine will then be mated to either a six-speed manual transmission, or a high-performance CVT.
The firm expects that the hew hatchback to have a comparable acceleration as to the current Civic Si. Highway fuel consumption within the area is found to be at 5.6-liters per 100-kilometers for the vehicle. There is also a speedier Type R version that is said to be on its way.
So the main questions here are when can you purchase the vehicle and how much would it cost to get it? The production of the new hatchback prototype will be introduced in September of this year. As for the price, it should also be announced around the same time as its production.
Aside from the Honda Civic Hatchback, the 2016 Honda Civic sedan, the one that was designed by Demi Lovato, was seen during the event in New York. Said vehicle is part of the New York International Auto Show. For those fans of the auto manufacturer, what are your thoughts about the upcoming turbocharged, Euro-style hatchback?
