B&O Play Beoplay A1 Portable Bluetooth Speaker Review – A Quality Mini Speaker That is Worth Every Penny

The new B&O Play Beoplay A1 Portable Bluetooth Speaker is a dome-shaped device that is not only one of the smallest wireless speakers in the market, but it is also placed at the perhaps the most affordable price class for such a device. Credits to the company for the creation of a Bluetooth speaker that does not look anything out of the ordinary.

The B&O Play Beoplay A1 Portable Bluetooth Speaker Does Not Look Ordinary

The B&O Play Beoplay A1 Portable Bluetooth Speaker is designed by the well-known Danish furniture designer, Cecile Manz. This aluminum-encased Bluetooth speaker is clearly meant to take on the likes of similarly looking devices, such as that of Bose’s famous SoundLink Mini II wireless speaker. Aside from its looks that are far from being ordinary, its sound performance is anything but traditional as well. It can easily be placed as one of the best-sounding mini Bluetooth speakers out there.

The company says that it is “robust enough to handle the bumps and scrapes of everyday use,” even though it does have sleek looks and it doesn’t have any protruding buttons. The standard packaging also comes with a leather carrying strap. However, there is no protective carrying pouch, which is a bit of a disappointment but not an absolute deal-breaker.

For the B&O Play Beoplay A1, the speaker itself has two drivers and these are a 3.5-inch mid cone woofer and a 3/4-inch tweeter. With the combination of these two drivers, it will manage to play very loud volumes despite its quite diminutive size. Furthermore, it is able to deliver a surprising amount of kick in the bass sections of the audio spectrum while maintaining a very strong midrange (where the vocals are located).

However, even with its great sound and premium looks, you can’t do away with the fact that it has some limitations because of its size. For instance, it will have a difficult time in resolving more complicated tracks, especially those that have a lot of instruments playing at the same time and while playing these files at higher volumes. Still, it should still do well in working inside a small room and it can work well when placed inside a kitchen, home office, dorm room, or even your bathroom.

As the shape of the B&O Play Beoplay A1 Portable Bluetooth Speaker will imply, it can also double as a speakerphone, and one that’s mighty fine as well. Another plus about this mini Bluetooth speaker is that it can last for up to 24-hours of continuous play thanks to its large 2,200mAh internal rechargeable battery.
