Blade & Soul first released within Korean servers but has long been awaited by international fans. Now, the international version has graced PCs everywhere, and this free-to-play MMORPG brings much delight to everyone. Even though it was first launched in South Korea back in 2012, it has been consistently enjoyed and even ranked as one of the top ten most successful games in the same year.
Blade & Soul Brings You Chinese Kung-Fu Action
If you’re a big fan of Chinese Kung-Fu action movies wherein everyone is flying around doing their martial arts, and you’re a gamer at heart or one that likes to play MMORPGs, then you would love Blade & Soul.
This game does not conform to many of the MMO stereotypes. While it is free-to-play (with in-game transactions), its style of gameplay falls outside of the stable massively multiplayer online RPG footprint. While many games in this genre presents mild action, Blade & Soul (PC) presents a very action-oriented playstyle.
For example, if you want to dodge properly, then you would have to move around your opponent instead of relying solely on an Agility stat. Want to hit your enemies better? Then move in closer. All of this has a deep emphasis on martial-arts style combat, specifically those that can be found on Kung-Fu movies.
If you’ve watched Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, then you know what this means. In this MMO, there are even waypoints on fields wherein going up to them will let your character “fly” or rather jump gracefully into a far off location.
Visually speaking, this MMO is striking with highly-stylized, anime-influenced art. Furthermore, the character creation has a vast array of menus that seem to only come second to Black Desert. So get ready to spend a good number of hours on creating your character alone. Therefore, it can be safely said that no two characters in this game would look exactly alike.
When you dive into the game, you will be greeted with a tutorial in the form of a training camp. (SPOILER ALERT) Once you’ve got the basics down, the story will then begin which involves the death of your master. After the tutorial map, you’re well on your way to searching for the people who killed your master and your entire clan.
Blade & Soul, right from the get-go, is a highly enjoyable MMORPG with lots of things to do. Combine that with an impressive action-style of gameplay and very appealing graphics, and you got yourself an award-winning game that can lock you inside your room for days on end.
