Bentley recently announced that their fastest production automobile has just gotten faster. Furthermore, if the client wishes it, it can be more exclusive as well. The Continental GT Speed was already one of the more exclusive (not the mention the more comfortable) ways for the driver, three passengers, along with all of their overnight bags to cruise at speeds of 206-miles-per-hour because of its twin-turb six-liter W12 engine. However, the automaker’s engineers decided that the car needed more horsepower, so in comes the Continental GT Speed Black Edition.
The Bentley Continental GT Speed Black Edition is Quite Similar to Its Predecessor, But Better at a Lot of Things, Especially Speed
The new Bentley boosts the horsepower from its predecessor by 7. While this may not sound like much of an engine output that will knock your socks off (the old engine sported 626-horsepower whereas the Black Edition has 633-horsepower). The torque has also been boosted to 840Nm. With these numbers, it shaved a fraction of a second when the car goes from 0 to 100-kilometers-per-hour. For comparison’s sake, the previous model can go from 0 to 100 in 4.2-seconds whereas the newer Black Edition can do that in 4.1-seconds.
When talking about daily use, the Bentley GT Speed Black Edition brings all the power available between 2,000 and 5,000-revolutions-per-minute. This is the “everyday” rev range for inner city and highway driving. However, this alone is not enough to make the car fly off shelves (so to speak), even for the most avid of fans for the auto manufacturer. Therefore, the firm is matching the boost in performance with a special high-gloss black finish, as well as 21-inch alloys and special brake calipers.
There are also other exterior details that have made been changed for the newer model. These include letting interested buyers choose from a choice of four contrasting colors for the automobile’s aerodynamic portions; more specifically speaking that of the front splitter, diffuser, and side skirts.
It’s not just the exteriors and the overall performance that gets an update as the interiors have something new to offer as well. It now boasts heavily contrasting hide and carbon fiber tones. Furthermore, and for the first time, interested purchasers can have the option of installing new Cyber Yellow leather.
Paul Jones, Product Line Director for the Bentley Continental GT, has the following to say about the vehicle: “We have developed the GT Speed Black Edition to meet demand from customers for a model in the Continental line that offers both increased sporting capabilities and instantly recognizable styling cues. The Black Edition has a subtle but purposeful look that is backed up by exceptional performance.”
