Analyst Predicts Apple TV to Ship to Have More Than Double Shipments by Next Year

The new Apple TV is seen to bring in more sales when 2016 rolls in as it seems to have more revenue potential this time around. Rod Hall, a JP Morgan analyst, states the hardware options and the apps made solely for the new television by Apple is perceived to rise in shipments by next year. The analyst sees that orders will rise to about 24 million by next year from 10 million on this current year. This was stated in an investors note that was released on Thursday.

The New Apple TV is Seen to Rise in Sales by Next Year

The new model for the Apple TV was just recently unveiled by the tech giant during the company’s event over at San Francisco last Wednesday. The new television comes packed with a plethora of new features that the old variant seemed lacking when one looks back. This time around, the TV also comes with enhancements to its specs and a remote control powered with the popular AI from Apple, Siri.

With Siri in Apple’s new TV remote, users can just state the show that they want and the artificial intelligence will change the channel for the viewer. Siri can also do certain commands like open Apps or record certain shows at a certain time. Furthermore, users of the TV need not be specific with the commands given to Siri as “she” can create search results when asked such questions such as “what are the best comedy shows of the early 2000s?”

The new television by Apple is now facing a number of fierce competitors in the smart TV market, which includes Roku, Amazon, and even Google. With Apple’s new device, it allows users to quickly stream and watch videos from a person’s iTunes account. It could also play certain games downloaded from the App Store. But will these features be enough of an edge against its competitors?

With the new model for Apple’s television, it now has an A8 processor that is also found in the iPhone 6. It also boasts 1080-pixel resolution. It is, however, expected that the company will drop the A9 chip (which is a more powerful chip and can be found in Apple’s new iPhones) sometime in the near future. With the new chip, people could even watch 4K videos.

Customers who wish to purchase the new Apple TV get to select between a 32GB model and a 64GB one.
