Unlike other tabletop projectors that may seem to dominate the market, the AAXA P5 is a beamer that can fit snugly on your outstretched palm. Even with its diminutive size, it has a good selection of ports which allows it to connect to various devices. It can even be used away from a power source as it has a built-in rechargeable battery. Image quality, however, is just average and there are considerably brighter LED projectors with a size that is only slightly larger than this one.
The AAXA P5 Has a Compact Architecture With Mediocre Image Quality
The AAXA P5 is a DLP-based projector that uses LED as its main light source. Said light source has a long 15,000-hour rated lifetime. It produces a native 720p (1,280 x 720) resolution, along with a rated brightness of 300-lumens. This is less than the company’s own P700, which has a rating of 600-lumens.
It comes with dimensions of 1.8 x 4.5 x 4.1-inches, and weighs 14.4-ounces. This makes it smaller and lighter than a lot of its similarly petite rivals. With its internal battery, it can last about two hours of continued use without being connected to a power source. The standard packaging also comes with a bendable mini-tripod to help the projector become stable while beaming images.
Even with its small size, the P5 Projector has a solid set of connectors. These include a VGA port, an HDMI port (that supports MHL), a memory card slot for micro-SD or TransFlash cards, an audio-out jack, a composite audio-video port, and a USB Type-A port. However, it lacks a built-in storage but this can be rectified with the use of a memory card. Also, it lacks 3D support which is unlikely since most DLP projectors have such a feature.
Using the P5 solely on battery power alone will produce a moderate reduction in brightness as compared to having the device plugged into a power source. Data images beamed from this ultra-portable projector produces usable quality, although not impressive. Black text on a white background, and white text on a black background, were easily readable and sharp to as small as 10.5-points in font size.
Overall, the AAXA P5 provides a good number of connectivity through its selection of ports. It is a super-compact LED projector that is good for both data images and videos. However, picture quality is only average and there are other contenders that are only slightly larger is size but do produce better quality images.
