An electric sports car that can drive itself is the latest electrified R8 e-tron by Audi after six long years of waiting finally its officially here to rock you. The fully electrified sports car version was unveiled by Audi at Geneva Motor Show.
Although that this fully electrified car have had its initial show way back 2009 at Frankfurt auto show the project didn’t push through because of few lapses specially with the charging state, however the the company’s sheer commitment to push through this project is evident as it will be officially part of the auto world. Now, its a battery and speed powerful combination. It is a high-tech rear-drive, 456 horsepower, and absolutely stunning without a driver actually stepping on the pedal.
BATTERY AND TECHOLOGY USED
In terms of the battery that powers this electric car the R8- e-tron has a 92-kWh T-shaped lithium-ion battery which able to provide power up to 279.6 miles (450 km) of range, a 456-hp (340-kW) dual-motor power train with enough oomph to take the car from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.9 seconds, plus a new multi-material Space Frame. To create the piloted R8 concept Audi geared the car with an autonomous driving suite. There is a so-called central computer that stimulates an accurate image of the car’s current environment to give the car the capability to decide even if there’s no human presence.The information processed by the central computer is from a newly innovated laser scanner, video cameras, the ultrasonic sensors and from the radar sensors which will be sent to the central driver assistance control unit (zFAS).
WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT FROM OTHER REGULAR R8
Audi’s R8 e-tron is pointedly distinctive from a regular R8 because it has a more slender tires, which were almost fully covered aero-focused wheels, there is also a fixed and small rear lip spoiler, and a horizontal silver garnishes which are on both both ends. Another feature is that the front air intake is partially covered with a carbon-fiber insert. The future car is here in advance as the car’s look embody more futuristic styles and it is more technical compared to other current R8 standard.
