What You Need to Know About the Amazon Fire Tablet

Low-cost Android tablets are definitely nothing new, but the Amazon Fire Tablet aims to bring more than its incredibly cheap price. The company is not giving up on the tablet fight even though it is already facing a ton of competition. Amazon aims to “keep the fire burning” for their tablet line with their new 7-inch mobile device.

The Amazon Fire Tablet Offers a Lot While Retaining a Low Price

Looking at the specs of the Amazon Fire Tablet, there really is nothing much to expect. However, do note that this is perhaps the cheapest tablet that the company has to offer to date; hence, looking at the price to specs ratio, it does deliver a lot of potential even at low costs. Especially now, and for the first time ever, Amazon is adding a microSD slot of more storage for their mobile tablet. This was known to be the “Achilles Heel” of previous Fire models as customers were stuck with whatever their device’s internal storage gave them.

The new Fire Tablet has a lowered internal capacity of 5GB, but since users are now able to increase the storage of the mobile device to up to 128GB with the use of a microSD card, that internal storage doesn’t look so bad.

Looking at the front of the tablet, there is a 7-inch screen that uses the same IPS technology as the iPad. Therefore, looking at the tablet from different angles does not hinder viewing experience. Also, colors and contrast look fair enough. However, resolution is quite low as it can only deliver 1024 x 600 at 171ppi. Still, complaints should be minimal considering the low price tag.

After looking at what’s outside of the device, we now take a look at what’s inside. As for the processor, it has a quad-core 1.3GHz chipset with 1GB of RAM. This is enough, and acceptable performance with (once again) its price.

The camera is where Amazon really cut corners at it only sports a 2-megapixel camera at the back and a VGA one at the front. Therefore, it can be said that Amazon’s new tablet is more than just taking pictures (or selfies for that matter).

Aside from these, the Amazon Fire Tablet has Bluetooth connectivity which makes it compatible with other devices with such a connection. It can be used with wireless headphones, speakers, and other low-energy Bluetooth devices. There is also a mono-speaker and a built-in microphone found in the device.
