Fans of Nintendo who are also sneaker aficionados rejoice as Vans has just revealed their latest line of footwear with characters and themes coming from the famous videogame company. Whether you’re the type who likes Mario on high tops, or Link and Zelda from The Legend of Zelda on some slip-ons, then this particular collection will be something you can fancy on.
Vans Introduces New Line of Nintendo-Inspired Sneakers
At the time of writing, Vans only released eight images for their new line of Nintendo-inspired sneakers. According to a report from The Stashed, there are four distinct styles that are a part of the collection that have the Nintendo designs already, and these the Authentic, the Sk8-Hi, the Slip-Ons, and the Old Skool.
There is an array of images from the original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and some of its groundbreaking games that were used to decorate the shoes. The designs represent characters, icons, and reference from various games which include Link and Princess of Zelda from The Legend of Zelda franchise, Super Mushrooms, Starman, and Fireflowers from Super Mario Bros., Princes Toadstool/Peach from Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong, the (annoying) Laughing Dog from Duck Hunt, the original NES controller, the blocks from Tetris, and some others.
Sole Collector reports that this is not the first time that Vans collaborated with another pop-culture icon to bring hip shoes into the sneaker world. For instance, the popular shoemaker did collaborate with The Beatles’ Yellow Submarine line to pay homage to the legendary band. The firm also collaborated with Star Wars to form a line of footwear and apparel to capture one of the most successful science fiction movie series of all time into trendy and comfortable footwear.
Aside from this, Sole Collector also reports that there are even more designs yet to be released, but these are unknown at the moment. After all, Nintendo has a very extensive line of characters that many would go “gaga” for to be placed as designs on comfortable footwear, Perhaps a shoe with Rock-Man/Mega-Man will be released? Or what about Pac Man, Glass Joe, or Little Mac? Or maybe even some of the characters from the videogame company’s recent games such as those from Fire Emblem or Bravely Default: Second Layer?
Even though these rumors pertaining to Vans‘ Nintendo-themed footwear have already been floating around for a few weeks already, ever since the shoemaker made the official announcement, there are already fans of sneakers and of the games produced by Nintendo who want to get their hands (and feet) on the new product line.
