The Traxxas 70054-1 Slash breaks new records in terms of fun and versatility. It is able to raise the bar on short-course performance unlike many of its rivals. It has the speed, handling, and power to take on any track, well, short-course that is. The design captures the full-size Traxxas TORC-series racer right at the onset.
The Traxxas 70054-1 Slash Brings a Whole New Category of Fun
So what is the Traxxas 70054-1 Slash? It is an officially licensed race replica RC vehicle that has captured the racing vehicle down to its paint and graphics. It is has a full-time 4-wheel-drive system for great handling and controls. It also has the XL-2.5 Electronic Speed Control (ESC) and the High-Torque Titan 127T 550 motor to still grant great handling and control even at top speeds.
The exteriors are made with waterproof electronics for all-weather driving conditions. It can take on short courses under rain with no problem. However, owners and racers should still be forewarned to never submerge the RC vehicle in water.
Unlike other RC vehicles of its class, the 70054-1 Slash puts the “high” in high torque with the use of its Titan 550 motor. This powerful “engine” is the same motor used in its larger 1/10 cousin. It is designed to withstand consistent torque at high speeds, race after short-course race.
With the use of the XL-2.5 ESC, it provides better handling even at top speeds. It also offers three drive profiles, low voltage detection, gold-plated connectors, thermal shutdown protection, and a very low resistance. These are all the features you may be looking for should you be in the market for a good all-around short-course racer.
Its control is the precision 2.4GHz Control Radio System from TQ itself. It is fairly easy to use as you need only to switch on the control and the RC racer will be raring to go. There is no need for channels or frequencies to tweak and manage so users are just able to focus with one thing on their mind – driving the Slash.
Still, to get the best performance out of the racer, there are some adjustments that need to be made, especially for the shocks. This is to allow for smoother runs on pavements. Right out of the box, the wheels will rub against the body, badly. Hence, owners may need to firm up or preload the shocks significantly to prevent this from happening.
Aside from some issues which can easily be rectified, the Traxxas 70054-1 Slash is able to deliver good performance in a compact RC vehicle package. It is easy to set up and a fairly simple task to drive it around.
