The time has come for Android Wear watches

Apple watch has certainly gotten acclaim all over, but now the time has for Android Wear watch to be noticed. It may sound unbelievable, but last year Google launched the Android wear. Sadly, it did not get as much popularity as the Apple Watch. In fact, not many people have known that Google has actually introduced this project.  While it did not get the popularity it sought out in 2014, it aims to gain better fanfare this time. Once again, they will relaunch a new wave and batch of Android Wear, and they are striving to get the applause that the smartwatch deserves.

Strategy Analytics analyst Neil Mawston acknowledges the success of the Apple watch, but has said that, “”Apple Watch has clearly raised the bar for the global smartwatch industry. The ball is now in the court of rivals, like Samsung, to respond.” Indeed, several of Apple’s rival companies like Huawei, Asus,  LG and Motorola are going to introduce their smartwatches at the IFA electronics trade show in Berlin. All their smartwatch runs on Google’s Android Wear software.

Although it was launched at June 2014, they have shipped only 720,000 units collectively, A far cry from what the Apple watch has gotten. One of the goals of these smartwatches is simple: to top off their rival, Apple Watch. This time however, they have taken several measures to ensure that their watches will have more success than what it had last year. Samsung has also announced that it will release its Gear S2 at the IFA electronics trade show. However this watch will not run on Android wear, but on Tizen.

Smartwatches have not really gotten on the mainstream, as most of its wearers are daring tech adopters. even Apple has not been fully successful in placing the Apple watch in the mainstream. Analyst have even said that the sales of smartwatches–both Android and Apple have slowed down.

Whether the relaunching the Android Wear watches will be more successful remains to be seen. Even if its relaunching prove to be a success, we have yet to see if it can actually beat the Apple watch. But most manufacturers have studied the market, and the products more carefully, Android Wear can actually achieve the popularity it deserves.
