Apple is currently holding back on the release of the new features that comes with their watchOS 2. When iOS 9 was released just recently, many Apple watch users were expecting to get an upgrade with the device’s current operating system. To their dismay, nothing happened when instead they got the grim news that the update will be delayed.
“What could have caused this delay?”
Simply put – a bug. Bugs in machinery and programming may not come to a surprise to anyone as it can happen. What the bug is, however, has not been disclosed by Apple.
Apple watchOS 2 Will Not Be Released Until Everything is Clear
Apple’s spokesperson said that they have discovered a bug with the development of the watchOS 2. Hence, it will take a bit longer than expected for the company’s new update to their operating system to be released on appropriate devices. The spokesperson also stated that the release of said upgrade will not happen until the flaw has been fixed.
The spokesperson also said that while the release for the update on the Apple watch watchOS has been delayed, they will have the upgrade released within the near future.
This is unfortunate news for Apple and for Apple Watch owners. Currently with the delay of their watch’s operating system, Apple is currently playing catch-up with Android Wear in terms of software versions. While it has been reported that Apple has had better sales with their watches as compared to the many lines of Android Wear, it is still lagging behind in terms of tech and features.
The current Apple Watch operating system won’t let users even change some pretty basic functions. For example, the current OS won’t let users change the clock’s background to one of their chosen pictures, something Android Wear has had for ages. With the update of the operating system, this feature will be added along with other new functions.
Other updates pertaining to the Apple watchOS 2 will include a Siri support. Therefore, users will not be able to “talk” to Apple smart AI program for questions, directions, or when they’re feeling lonely. There will also be an improved range for connectivity with people’s iPhones. There will also be transit directions, and a new feature called Time Travel wherein users are able to go back to elapsed notifications on the Apple Watch. The update will also open up the Watch’s sensors. Hence, it provides more freedom for third-party app developers to create more apps for the Apple Watch.
