SteelSeries Apex M800 Review - Improving on What Was Already Impressive

The SteelSeries Apex M800 is a Strong Performer in Many Areas

The SteelSeries Apex M800 has dimensions of 1.6 by 20.1 by 6.8-inches. It weighs 3.1-pounds and is similar in size seen in the older SteelSeries Apex. However, the Apex M800 is slightly larger than the Corsair K95 RGB. This large frame means that it is quite difficult to pack around, especially if your mates want to host a LAN party at a certain location. Furthermore, the Apex M800 is made entirely out of plastic whereas the Corsair K95 RGB is made out of aluminum. Still, at least the sleek profile is still very attractive and the plastic material is nicely textured.

All of the keyboard’s 110 keys include a QS1 switch. This is a special high-end switch that the company created with the assistance of outside professionals. The company claims that this QS1 switch will be able to offer 25-percent faster actuations than traditional mechanical switches. Also, the keys are all laid out in a smooth, low profile, which make them easier to glide across rows and columns, while all the while maintaining good travel across the keys.

The SteelSeries Apex M800 keyboard also includes N-key rollover of up to 256 simultaneous button presses. Hence, all of a user’s input will register which helps during intense gaming sessions. This is great for MOBA players who use a lot of keys on the keyboard to cast spells, generate skills, and more importantly, pummel the competition.

For the key’s and their lighting, users can choose from 16.8-million colors. As a result, this keyboard is capable of nearly just about every lighting effect out there imaginable. Furthermore, the accompanied software to do this is as user-friendly as possible so changing the colors can be done very easily.

With the use of the QS1 switch, the keys on the Apex M800 are very satisfying to use. They offer a nice set of feedback while still offering a consistent responsiveness to them. They are flat and condensed which means typing may take some getting used to. But when you do, you may not want to look for any other keyboard for a good long while.

The SteelSeries Apex M800 is a premium-grade gaming keyboard which can deliver fast and consistent performance. It also provides high levels of customization which is to the delight of PC gamers everywhere.
