The Sony KDL-32W706B presents itself as what could be a one-of-a-kind TV. To start, it isn’t very interested in being as cheap as possible. In fact, it looks very pretty, even prettier than most. It also has features and a performance level that would automatically make it land a position in an area of anyone’s home.

Sony KDL-32W706B Review - Not Interested in Being Cheap

The Sony KDL-32W706B is a Rare Type

When looking at the Sony KDL-32W706B, you will immediately befall upon its majestic presence, not by its size by its overall design. It has a really nice gleaming metallic bezel, which immediately makes it more defining than most of its rivals. Even though the entire unit is predominantly made out of plastic, it won’t immediately tell you that until you start shifting it around to fit its stand.

Speaking of the display stand, it sports the “barely there” look. It is of an open metallic bar design and manages to hold the entire weight of the TV pretty nicely. This is a 32-inch mid-range TV that has a clever trick of making you believe that it feels really thin around the back. This illusion is thanks to the way the upper half of the rear panel has a thickness of only a couple of centimeters.

For a reasonably affordable 32-inch TV, the KDL-32W706B is pretty strong in the connectivity department. It has four HDMI ports and two USB ports. It can also be connected to the home network via wireless or through an Ethernet cable.

The TV uses edge LED lighting (hence the relative thinness found in the upper half of its rear) to light up the entire screen. Speaking of its display, it produces images with full HD resolution, and it also sports the company’s own X-Reality Pro processing engine. Other than that, picture specs are pretty straightforward.

When it comes to image quality, it is marvelous to look at from start to finish. The most obvious element in this regard is that it can produce a punchy contrast, which is quite the challenge for most common small-screened TVs. While the screen can produce average brightness levels, it is still capable of producing deep, rich black colors with plenty of balance in between the color spectrum. The resulting images bring out plenty of depth and a whole lot of “oomph.”

The Sony KDL-32W706B is a perfect TV for a second or even a main room display. It is placed at a mid-range price point that will please a whole lot of people. The best part is it doesn’t even try to look like its price.
