Samsung UE55JS8500 Review – Less Processing Power But Better Image Quality

What is the Samsung UE55JS8500? Despite it being at the top-end of the South Korean company’s range, it is actually placed as an entry-level “SUHD” model. What this means is that viewers will be able to enjoy a native UHD resolution, along with the company’s Nano Crystal color technology, a support for high dynamic range (HDR), and a high-brightness panel. While it separates itself greatly from Samsung’s JS9000 series by having less processing power, but it makes up for this for having better image quality, and also a Mini One Connect connections box included in the standard packaging.

The Samsung UE55JS8500 Separates Itself From the Crowd

The Samsung UE55JS8500 carries on the company’s fascination for the curved element. The curved display is being supported by a case that is seriously thin but seriously attractive. Said frame is of the deep, gray, metallic type. The entire unit is accompanied by a tabletop stand; if you decide to use it, it is also a work of art and will gladly be used by many. This is because the stand makes it look like the TV is floating in mid-air when looking at it at the right angles.

When it comes to connectivity, the UE55JS8500 comes plenty with it. Found on the external One Connect Mini, there are four HDMI ports (all of which are built with the 2.0 standard with HDCP 2.2 support), an optical digital audio output, and a pair of USBs. But this is not all you’re going to get as there are also connectivity options found on the TV itself. On the unit, you will get satellite and Freeview HD RF tuner inputs, a LAN port, a component video input, and of course, the input cable to connect the TV to the One Connect Mini.

As you would expect from a 55-inch TV that is located at the top-end of the market, it is jam-packed with features and cutting edge technology that goes beyond your expectations for a curved screen. Its Nano Crystal technology delivers an even wider color range than what you would normally get from a normal LCD TV. It is then complemented by an ultra-transmissive, and therefore ultra-bright, LCD panel which is designed to produce stunning service in the HDR department.

Many elements found in the Samsung UE55JS8500 are certainly worth its price. However, since it is made with a less powerful processor, it may not deliver motion with as much clarity and smoothness as other models that are found within or outside the company. Nevertheless, if you have the money, and are looking for a curved 4K UHD TV, then your search may be over.
