It has already been announced by Nintendo that the next Pokémon games that will be launched are Pokémon Sun and Moon. While Pokémon fans are already anxiously waiting for official news about the next titles in the franchise, there are already some reports (albeit unofficial) that are circling around the World Wide Web. One of those reports state that the identities of the games’ legendary Pokémon might have just been leaked.
Pokémon Sun and Moon Legendaries Allegedly Leaked
It is said that the developers behind the Pokémon games, including Pokémon Sun and Moon, GameFreak, have just filed for 2 trademarks that could possibly be the names for the legendary Pokémon found in the upcoming games. As per an eagle-eyed user, called Watch Da Birdie, the names that were trademarked are called Solgaleo and Lunaala. These has prompted numerous speculations as to what could these names be. However, many would point that these are the main mascots of the two new Pokémon games.
As many fans of the Pokémon games, they would speculate that there would be new monsters that will be added to the ever-expanding list of Pocket Monsters. When Sun and Moon were officially announced approximately 2 months ago, there are already teases of the existence of 10 new characters. However, these are still shrouded in mystery. One of those mysterious characters is the mythical Magearna. Aside from the name, Nintendo has been keeping information about the character secured tightly behind closed doors. However, basing on the new hint from the trademarks, we might just have an idea about the two new legendary Pokémon.
Judging from the trademarked names, Solgaleo will most likely be part of the Pokémon Sun game whereas Lunaala being in the Moon variant. As with the “leo” at the end of Solgaleo, it could suggest that the legendary Pokémon for Pokémon Sun is that of a lion-themed one, and if so, then it would be the first lion-themed Pokémon since Entei.
It is not uncommon for leaked trademarks for past Pokémon games to be actually true, and this might happen for Pokémon Sun and Moon. There are some instances that it might be real, or that they might just be names being used within the game and not a monster of any kind. Aside from Solgaleo and Lunaala, it is rumored that GameFreak also filed for a trademark for the name “Gigareki.” The game is scheduled to be released in the 4th quarter of this year.
