In a PlayStation 4 update, Sony has recently revealed their plans to expand the remote play for their current-gen home gaming console. Furthermore, Activision has also announced that they are teaming up with the tech giant at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo to promote Infinity Ward’s latest Call of Duty title.
Recent PlayStation 4 Update Reveals Sony Team-Up With Activision
One of the information found in the recent PlayStation 4 update is that the tech giant is planning on extending their remote play to the PC and Mac in the near future. However, this still won’t be a part of the upcoming system 3.50 update. Nonetheless, it would put Sony’s home gaming console a notch about Microsoft’s Xbox One. This is because the Microsoft console can only work with compatible Windows computers whereas Sony plans on extending such a feature for Mac users as well.
It is also unclear when such a feature will arrive to PlayStation 4 consoles as the only timeline revealed was “soon.” But before that happens, Sony did include a number of neat features as part of their next major update. One such feature to note is the functionality of letting users livestream their games to Dailymotion.
With this new update for the PlayStation 4, it brings it in line with their rival, the Xbox One, in terms of such a functionality. The Xbox One does have a remote play feature but it is only available for Windows 10 computers. Sony intends to push that functionality further for Mac computers, which immediately places it a step above Microsoft’s console. The concept follows in the footsteps of the PS Vita, which has remote play capabilities for certain PS4 titles with the use of the company’s handheld device.
The latest software3.50 update is codenamed MUSASHI. It will include a whole slew of new features and are centered in bringing more social features to the PS4. For instance, there’s the Friend Online Notification, which will let players toggle the option to get notified if a member on their friend list will sign into the network. There’s also the Appear Offline feature, wherein you would appear offline to other gamers within your list. You can even designate some members of your list that would know that you’re online even when you appear offline for others.
There are other features that have been added into the latest PlayStation 4 update and the company is looking forward to sharing exciting new details about this year’s Call of Duty game with the partnership of Activision.
