Now that it seems that Bluetooth speakers are now an essential product category for consumer gadget makers, we are now introduced with the Philips BT6000. This makes the speaker a true contender.

The Philips BT6000 is a Compact and Lightweight Contender in the Bluetooth Speaker Market

For the design of the Philips BT6000, you would get a 360-degree speaker look that is wrapped in a black, flat, durable plastic exterior. The design is made for the device to conveniently rest either vertically on a base, or horizontally on its frame. As with the larger parts of its exteriors, the interface is also kept to a bare minimalistic approach. There is a pairing button found on the frame, and the power and volume controls are an old-school dial situated at the top. This is reminiscent to the analogue radio tuners of old.

The NFC logo is clear which allows users to pair the BT6000 Bluetooth Speaker to their Android phones pretty quickly (and easily too). For iPhone users, you have to connect to the speaker in the old-fashioned way.

The device measures at 19-centimeters in length and approximately 7-centimeters in diameter. The grill looks like it is weak and prone to damage, but that is just from first glance. Holding the speaker on your hand and you will be presented with a robust feel which is what you would want it to be.

At the bottom of the speaker, there is an audio input and a micro USB charging port. These are covered by a thick rubber flap which is obviously made that way to keep water out. Aside from this, the BT6000 is also weatherproof. Lastly, the battery of the BT6000 is a 4,400mAh cell which is good for about 8-hours of battery life.

For the performance of the speaker, just think about this – you will become an obnoxious jerk inside a public transit vehicle if you play this compact device. The device delivers great and powerful sound quality. The sounds are emitted a full 360-degrees. Hence, you will get a full blast of volume and sound distribution no matter what music you select.

With its impressive audio, weatherproof sealing, a very easy-to-use interface, and a compact and lightweight design makes the Philips BT6000 a very impressive contender. If only the bass was a little bit more powerful at lower volumes, then this speaker would have been perfect.
