Optoma HD28DSE Review – This Budget Beamer Provides HD Images

Published: 5 November 2015Updated: 6 November 2015

As soon as you fire up the Optoma HD28DSE, the projector displays HD images that are so impressive that it is unlike any other. This is all due to the Darbee Visual Presence processing technology found within the device. However, this single-chip DLP beamer lacks the necessary tools to comply with an easy-setup. But once you do get it installed and working properly, it is glorious to use.

Optoma HD28DSE Review - This Budget Beamer Provides HD Images

The Optoma HD28DSE is Able to Provide Wonderful HD Imagery

To become an entry-level device, the Optoma HD28DSE should comply with three things – a low price tag, a simple setup procedure, and picture quality that is eons better than what old projectors can handle. Well, two out of three things isn’t bad.

The HD28DSE projector is able to produce stunning images and can be bought at a fairly low price range. However, there is a setup procedure that newbies to installing projectors may find themselves at a loss.

For the HD28DSE’s chief feature, it would undoubtedly be its Darbee Visual Presence technology. This is designed to extract those ordinary levels of detail, depth, object separation, and lighting and turn these image characteristics to something extraordinary. The beamer also includes BrilliantColor image presets. With the projector’s 3,000 ANSI Lumens lamp, it means that the images being presented can still be clearly seen even in a brightly lit room. However, images start to fade and become unclear in the brightest of daylight. Still, these features still count as being very versatile.

As for the design, the HD28DSE has dimensions of 315 by 114 by 223-millimeters for its dimensions. It has a weight of 2.5-kilograms so it’s not terribly too light or heavy to carry around the house. The ports are what you can see in an ordinary beamer. There are a couple of HDMI slots, a 3.5-millimeter audio output, a 3D sync slot, a mini-USB port, and a 3D sync slot.

As the device has an audio output, it boasts a built-in speaker. However, at 10W, users are advised to not expect a powerful punch but it can still provide a decent audio performance. As for the lamps life, it is expected to be approximately 8,000 hours of use. That is just amazing.

Even though the Optoma HD28DSE doesn’t have an easy setup procedure, not does it have lens shift levers included in the package, the images being displayed makes up for these caveats. Bring all that with its moderately priced price tag and you will still be able to get great value for your money.
