Oppo R7 Lite Review - A Decent Performer Offering a Mid-Range Price

The Oppo R7 Lite Comes Into the Highly Competitive Mid-Range Market

For the build and finish of the Oppo R7 Lite, initial look and feel for the device is impressive due to the quality of the materials used in the construction of the device. The body of the handset is made up of a single piece of aluminum. This gave the phone a more premium build and a great tactile feedback. The company managed to keep the thickness of the phone to an appropriate level at 6.5-millimeters. The phone is also fairly light at 143-grams for its weight.

As for its display, the R7 Lite gets the 2.5D arc treatment. This means that are edges are curved a bit to promote a smoother feel. The AMOLED display measures in at 5-inces and is capable of full-HD resolution (720 x 1,280). This is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, which makes it quite resistant to scratches and can take a decent level of punishment.

When you consider the resolution, Oppo’s offering is a bit low as compared to other smartphones within the same price range. However, the pixel density for the screen is a bit high, hence you won’t get any jagged edges in text and icons. The color reproduction is sufficient as well and viewing under sunlight is quite good.

The hardware specifics of this handset is very much in line with the Moto X Play. Owners will get an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor with 2GB of RAM. There is a built-in storage of 16GB and the phone has microSD card support for storage expansion of up to 128GB. It also comes with 4G LTE connection compatibility. Standard options for connections are there as well, such as Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and even GPS. However, there is no NFC or FM radio thrown into the mix of features.

When it comes to performance, the R7 Lite model is speedy in terms of routine tasks. There are no stutter or lags in animation when switching between the apps. The phone can easily handle games such as Dead Trigger 2 with minimal problems involved. Call quality is also good, and the phone gets into 4G networks quite easily as well.

Even though the Oppo R7 Lite has an inferior display resolution as compared to that of the Moto X Play, it can still perform well when it comes to other functions. For its price, it makes a good alternative for higher-end phones.
