It is not recommended that you bring most smartwatches with you into the shower, let alone bring them along with you while you go surfing, but the Nixon Mission is not most smartwatches. It is a rugged and durable smartwatch powered by Android which is also equipped with a polycarbonate and 316L stainless steel body. It has a fully-round AMOLED display and it is one of the first smartwatches (at the time of publishing) that features Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon Wear 2100 system-on-a-chip. Said chip uses 25-percent less power than other chips from the firm. Therefore, it claims to deliver improved battery life for the wearable tech. Oh, and it also has great water resistance as well.
The Nixon Mission Can be Worn While in the Shower, or While You’re Out at Sea
Of course, the highlight feature for the Nixon Mission is its water-resistance. It is the first smartwatch to carry a 10ATM water-resistant rating. What does this mean? It means that it can withstand pressures that is equivalent to that of a depth of 100-meters (or about 330 feet). While you still can’t wear the watch while you’re out deep-sea diving or jumping off of a jet ski, it is found to be able to withstand just about every other impact that is brought about by water. Such activities that you can wear the watch with are snorkeling, swimming, and of course, surfing.
In fact, this particular Nixon Android Wear is being encouraged by the firm themselves that users take it out with them when they’re surfing. There is also an app that was made by the California-based company built specifically for this watch which shows surf and ski conditions. It can even be accessible with just a glance on your wrist, or rather the watch. It is also partnered with Trace (which is an action sports company) to assist in tracking an array of activities.
For its hardware specs, it includes 4GB of internal storage and 512MB of RAM, which are both relatively standard as far as Android Wears go. This particular smartwatch from Nixon has a similar design to that of the Casio Smart Outdoor Watch. However, Nixon’s offering has a higher water-resistance rating and it even includes GPS apart from Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Other than the app and the high water resistance, the Nixon Mission can do pretty much anything else that any other Android Wears can do. There is a customizable watch face, downloadable apps. and users are able to view notifications from a connected smartphone.
