The MSI GE72 Apache Pro uses the 6th-generation Intel i7-6700HQ for its processing prowess and it also uses the GeForce GTX 960M for graphics management, along with 16GB of RAM. This gives it more than decent power for playing modern games. Still, it can’t compete with the likes of a custom-built gaming desktop rig when it comes to price. However, this premium portable gaming machine presents you with a quality screen and an excellent keyboard.
The MSI GE72 Apache Pro Provides More Than Enough Performance to Tackle the Latest Games
Still, there’s more to the MSI GE72 Apache Pro than its portability. The package also includes a 1TB hard drive along with a 128GB solid-state drive. These, along with a host of alluring features built for gamers, gives you a lot on offer for its premium price point.
As with the trend with other gaming laptops, the GE72 Apache Pro borrows most of its design aesthetics from luxury sports cars. There is an angular design that looks to be quite aggressive, which may also be seen to define its equally fierce performance. There is the MSI gaming badge found on its lid which adds to the said sports car theme.
Its case is made with an attractive black design with a brushed aluminum finish. It does an adequate job of repelling fingerprints and smudges. However, open the lid and the trackpad seems a little… off. It feels plasticky which is supposedly designed to mimic the look of brushed aluminum, but ultimately fails.
What’s a gaming laptop without a premium-looking keyboard? MSI’s offering has a SteelSeries keyboard built into the machine. The chiclet-style keyboard looks and feels amazing. The 17-inch laptop presents a full-sized keyboard with plenty of room to breathe in. Fingers will never trip over keys during typing and aggressive gaming sessions.
Other than looking at beautiful game graphics, the laptop’s graphics card allow you to stream sharp and vibrant movies. But one of the nicer features is its sound quality. It is, perhaps, one of the best sounding gaming laptops to-date. There are Dynaudio spears that are able to produce surprising clarity to the sound whether it’s from a game, movie, or music.
While this is an absolute treat to work with, the MSI GE72 Apache Pro ultimately loses to its competitors in terms of power. However, it does not mean that the laptop is not built for gaming. This is made for gamers who want to release themselves from being shackled to their desktop computers to play games somewhere else. It still promotes great value for money as it delivers optimal sound and graphics performance, all in a 17-inch laptop.
