After over three years of not having to update their TV line, the Apple TV returns, and returned it did! Aside from the iPhone 6S, 6S Plus, and the iPad Pro, the tech company made an upgrade to their TV line and it was a great update indeed.

The new TV from Apple introduces a flurry of new apps that users can download over at the App Store. For instance, there will be an app that will allow viewers to choose what to watch and when to watch their shows. Also, there’s the remote with Siri’s voice in it that allows users to quickly search for their shows by just saying the title of the show they want.

An OS for the TV

One of the new features of the new Apple TV is the tvOS. Like the name sounds, it is an operating system made specifically for Apple’s new television. It is based off on the popular iOS and it supports key elements that are similar to the operating system found in the company’s mobile devices. Gaming can also be done through the TV as the tvOS also packs an A8 chip for enhanced performances.

The Siri Remote

As mentioned earlier, the new Apple Television comes with a remote with Siri in it. When speaking to Siri via the remote, users will be able to search TV shows and movies just by “commanding” the AI to search for them. It doesn’t even have to specific as a command can be like, “Find the best movies of the ’90s in comedy.” After which, Siri will promptly display results for the search.

The Apple exclusive AI can also be used to do playback controls, do on-screen navigations, and also tell the weather.


Apps for the new tvOS comes with tools and APIs. This is great for developers who want to create more apps for the TV. They will be able to create apps and games that are built specifically for Apple’s new TV.


The new Apple TV will hit stores by the end of October of this year. Like its mobile devices, the company provides options for their customers with regards to internal memory storage. Customers can choose between the 32GB or the 64GB model. As of the moment, there is no pricing information but it will be available once availability for the television has been announced.
