In recent years, it seems that Ferrari has been doing nothing wrong, and that idea certainly follows through with the Ferrari F12tdf. The company is on a roll as their impossibly hardcore (although dearly departed) 458 Speciale was immensely exciting from the exteriors, to the engine, down to its cabin. This time, we get a GT car which is endowed with old-school V12 glamour but with cutting-edge dynamism and cutting-edge performance levels.
The Ferrari F12tdf Impresses in Every Way
The Ferrari F12tdf is a lighter, more aerodynamic, and faster model as compared to the company’s flagship front-engined V12 car. When you take a look at the spec sheet, you will immediately see the car’s absolute potential to give promise. It already has a scintillating 6.3-liter V12 engine that is reworked to produce 769bhp at 8500rpm (up by 369bhp). It also has 681Nm of torque at 6750rpm (which is a 15Nm increase).
Looking at these initial specs, it also has 6-percent gear ratios and the gearbox is able to shift even faster. It is 30-percent quicker on upshifts and 40 percent faster on downshifts. The weight is down as well, and this is all thanks to the extensive use of carbon fiber materials.
Speaking of carbon fibers, the front and rear bumpers are made with that material, as are the underfloor aerodynamic devices. That’s not all, the extended side sills and the Aerobridge Evo (which is a device that directs air from the bonnet and down the sides of the vehicle) are all made of carbon fiber material.
Inside the cabin, there is still that black shiny weave that is ever present. This results in a weight loss of 110-kilograms. As for performance, it is nothing short of the word “amazing.” It can shoot from 0 to 62mph in 2.9 seconds, 0 to 124mph in 7.1 seconds, and has a top speed of over 211mph.
When looking at the specs on paper, you would, of course, expect more power and weight for the F12tdf. However, the real innovation comes in the chassis and electronics. The tdf is the first Ferrari fitted with four-wheel steering. The feature is called the “Virtual Short Wheelbase.”
The Ferrari F12tdf can be described as the best drivetrain that can be located in any car that is on sale today. The engine is a masterpiece. Although for casual drivers, they may think that the immense power that the vehicle brings have been taken a step too far. For everyone else, everything about the car will feel like a dream come true.
