Ezviz Mini Review - Cute But Big on Value

Don’t Let the Cute Demeanor of the Ezviz Mini Fool You

When you take a look at the Ezviz Mini as a security camera, then you will get what you want. It can perform really well, and many can claim that it is the top of its class. However, there is one important exception to its overall performance – phantom alerts.

This security camera is supposed to send an alert and even record a video clip when it is able to detect motion through its sensors. However, there are several instances that the videos showed no activity whatsoever, hence, it is not evident that something passed through the vision of the device or not. This is a bare-bones miniature security camera and it does what it has to do quite well.

The Ezviz Mini Security Camera only weighs under 4-ounces and has a height of just 3.5-inches. That is about as good as it gets as far as unobtrusive design goes. The device has a magnetic base, and the stand will be able to pivot and angle for easy setup. Also, It offers a microSD card slot for local storage.

As for the Ezviz app (which can be used for Android and iOS devices), installation can be done in a matter of about 5 to 10 minutes. The steps to properly setup the camera is a little more than your conventional security device, but it is not too inconvenient as it is still pretty much straightforward.

However, the app looks pretty outdated and is in dire need of a modern makeover. Still, this makes it quite easy to navigate through the menus and commands. Still, everything is still very useful as live streaming from Android or iOS apps seems to have minimal or even no problems in that aspect.

As for live streaming performance, it does perform well. It can deliver 720p live streamed videos into appropriately connected devices. Users are also able to set the videos in either portrait or landscape view.

Even though there is the issue of phantom alerts, the Ezviz Mini is a great performer for a miniature security camera. At its very convenient price, do not expect a lot of features for this device. It is a security camera, and not an “all-in-one” gadget.
