There are those who would see the Cola Messenger app and think “not another messaging application!” But what makes this messaging app different from the tons of others is that it offers features that are centered around productivity rather than just simple SMS text messaging. It keeps people productive with the use of interactive “bubbles” and these will allow you to schedule meetings, vote on quick polls, make to-do lists, and many more.
Putting Bubbles in Cola Messenger is Ingenious
Cola Messenger can be downloaded for free on the iTunes Store and it aims to do away with some of the traditional pain points found in SMS text messaging. Furthermore, it does require users to complete abandon what they’re currently doing with their mobile device to bring more out of, well, doing more. This is actually a good thing as the app is currently exclusive to the iPhone’s operating system (sad to say it cannot be installed on other iOS devices). Furthermore, it requires a US-based phone number for registration, so those in other countries are fresh out of luck.
On the surface of the Cola Messenger application, it appears like your any other rudimentary messaging app. What makes these unique from the rest is its use of “bubbles.” These are little extra bits of code that streamline some of the more common text messaging scenarios. These include scheduling the best time for a business meeting with your office colleagues, or even planning on setting a time and date with your friends to meet up. When using traditional methods of texting, this would require a lot of messaging back and forth.
With the Cola app, it is as simple as tapping the “When Can We Meet?” bubble, then suggest a few dates found on its built-in calendar. You can also specify the length and the title of the upcoming meeting before hitting on Send. If the recipient is also using the same application, then your message will immediately bypass the iOS iMessage app.
But what about those that are not using the Cola Messenger app or those that are not using the iPhone? For such users, they would just receive a standard SMS text message with a link on it. Tapping on that link will open in any mobile web browser and all of those options will be displayed. The sender of the message will then be notified with a push notifications just seconds after the recipient’s response has been placed. There are many other features that make this app a worthwhile download. Why not check it out by going to the App Store right now?
