The Canadian smartphone manufacturer is boasting about the BlackBerry Priv and it being at the top of Google Android security updates. David Klediermacher, chief security officer of BlackBerry, had this to say, “Soon after the release of Priv late last year, we announced an aggressive patching strategy and plan that would put Priv at the forefront of security hygiene across all mobile devices.”
The BlackBerry Priv is Blowing a Tiny Trumpet in Celebration of it Being on Top of the Google Android Security Updates
The statements about the BlackBerry Priv can be found on the firm’s blog. The chief security officer even continued further, stating that, “The importance of this patching commitment and process cannot be overstated; the complex nature of mobile operating systems demands this kind of field upgrade program to meet the needs of the most privacy and security conscious consumers and enterprises.”
“This commitment, in addition to the vast investment and innovation in security technological enhancements to Android made by BlackBerry, is critical in delivering BlackBerry-level privacy and security to the Android world. After four months of Android security bulletins, now is a good time to reflect on how BlackBerry has delivered on its patching commitment.”
The aforementioned statements are actually the short versions of what can be seen in the blog post. So happy is Canadian company that they even made a graph about the topic. They even colored said graph in to show how far ahead the Priv is in terms of security as compared to its competition.
David Kleidermacher is not even shy about boasting about how secure it is to use the Priv as compared to its rivals. “Other mobile device vendors can take weeks, months or even years to deliver security patches, leaving you and your business at risk. BlackBerry’s steadfast commitment to timely security updates is just one of the many reasons why BlackBerry continues to be the undisputed leader in mobile privacy and security,” he said in the post.
This particular BlackBerry smartphone might be the King of Security but it falls short in just about every aspect of the mobile handset competition. Compatibility with apps is seen to be not so good, and the overall experience that the Priv gives is just average as compared to the smartphones being offered by LG, Sony, or Samsung.
With regards to the BlackBerry Priv, those who do want a really secure device can opt for it. But when user-friendliness, or total user experience is involved, there are other mobile phones that can provide those and even more.
