The Asus Transformer 3, 3 Pro, and 3 Mini have just been unveiled as part of the new Transformer 2-in-1 PCs. However, at first glance, they suspiciously look like one of its main rivals, the Microsoft Surface Book. These new Transformers have their own kickstands and portable keyboards, which does remind you of, yes, the Surface hybrid devices.
What Sets the Asus Transformer 3 Apart From the Microsoft Surface Book
The Asus Transformer 3 is the middle man of the three devices in the series, the Pro model is the most advanced, and the Mini is the lightest (and practically the cutest of the bunch). Both the standard model and the Pro versions sport a 12.6-inch display that have 2,880 x 1,920-resolutionm 275-pixel-per-inch density, as well as wide viewing angles. There are also other similarities for these two models such as USB Type-C and Thunderbolt 3 connections, USB 3.0 and HDMI ports, and Harmon Kardon speakers.
Furthermore, as you might have expected, both of the models are also compatible with other accessories found in ASUS line of products such as a Universal Dock, the Pen, an AudioPod, ang the ROG XG Station 2, which is a graphics dock that allows the humble hybrid device to gain the power of a desktop computer. Both the Asus Transformer 3 and Transformer 3 Pro will be available in Glacier Gray and Icicle Gold color variations.
Of these two model, the Pro model is heftier as it has an 8.35-millimeter thickness. It has a kickstand that has a “stepless hinge” in which it allows users to set the device at any viewing angle up to 170-degrees. Furthermore, the Pro variant comes with a Cover Keyboard. This part of the hybrid device is backlit and supplies “laptop-grade 1.4-millimeter key travel,” in which the company claims will be able to provide users a typing experience that is similar to that of a normal-sized laptop.
Beneath its exteriors, the 3 Pro has an Intel Core i7 processor, up to 1TB PCIe SSD, and 16GB of 2,133MHz of RAM. It also has a 13-megapixel rear snapper as well as a front-facing camera as well. It uses the front-facing camera to utilize the device’s facial recognition feature thanks to Windows Hello.
At the time of writing, these three Asus Transformer 3 products have no word regarding when they will hit markets. Pricing, however, is already available and just like their specs, the Mini is the cheapest of the three, the standard model gets the middle price, and the Pro variant is the most expensive.
