The Anova Precision Cooker has both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, and can be controlled using a dedicated app. The company is poised to make this more than just a part of your kitchen. The manufacturer wants to make use of its wireless technology to make this an active part of your life, even outside of your home.
The Anova Precision Cooker Aims for Flexibility in Cooking Through Wireless Technology
The Anova Precision Cooker is the second device from the company that has connected functionalities. The first one being their original precision cooker, but it only had Bluetooth connectivity. This left the predecessor to be controlled around the home, but not across town.
Beside the addition of Wi-Fi connectivity, the Anova Precision Cooker Bluetooth + Wi-Fi is much different than its predecessor, especially when it comes to price. Surprisingly, even with the added connection option, it is now made cheaper.
In terms of design, both the predecessor and the new model are nearly identical. It’s not just their looks that are identical, but their cooking performance as well. The most notable difference here is the availability of the app that is now able to be paired within a Wi-Fi network. The app is pretty much bare-bones and anyone can understand what it can do for the precision cooker right out of the bat.
However, herein lies the caveat of the app; even though it is simplistic in nature, it is made too simple. With its simplicity comes its limitations. The app offers limited commands than the previous app for the Bluetooth model. Fortunately, users are able to use the previous app to take control of the newer model of this precision cooker. The only problem here is that when you have both apps on your device, just brace for double notifications from the two apps. The apps are available for iOS and Android devices.
It seems Anova knows of this problem and have stated that they plan to integrate the two apps together in the future for more control over the Wi-Fi cooker. This is a promising outlook for this device, as long as the merged app will retain the usability of the original Bluetooth model for the precision cooker.
For those who want a taste of wireless cooking technology, the Anova Precision Cooker with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi should be a good place to start. With it, you will be able to know how much time is left and the temperature of the food you’re currently cooking, even when you’re across town or just within another room. Still, we’ll just have to wait for the new app to have updates before it will be of much use.
