Monitors that are meant for gaming are slapped with tags to denote that they are not necessarily a new breed of tech, but the Acer Predator XB270HU aims to resolve that claim. There is also the advent of 3D and super high-resolution technology for monitors and TVs alike that gaming monitors gets pushed back into the far corner of the room. What many people do not know is that monitors and displays meant for gaming have incredibly faster refresh rates to keep up with their equally powerful GPUs.
What Can be Expected of the Acer Predator XB270HU?
The design of the Acer Predator XB270HU may not be the most exciting in the market, but it is very acceptable, well, in a utilitarian kind of way. To start, there is a glossy black bezel that is just 10-millimeters on either side and the top of the display. The bezel is slightly larger at the bottom at 19-millimeters. The back of the monitor is made with matte plastic. The stand is also made with a black and glossy material, but there’s a small red trim to it.
At the back of the Acer Predator XB270HU Monitor are two USB 3.0 ports (located on the side of the power button), and two more of the same type of ports found on the bottom. There is also a DisplayPort connector and a USB Type B port, still at the rear of the display, to connect to the USB hub of your computer.
Other than the aforementioned ports, there aren’t any other video inputs. If you are looking for a QHD or IPS-technology monitor with other video inputs, then you won’t find it here. Another thing that’s lacking in the monitor are built-in speakers. It’s a shame that a monitor made for great gaming does not have the option of having great sounds to go with the package. However, since there are USB ports built into the device, users can plug in a USB headset directly into the monitor or let the computer handle the sounds if there are a set of speakers connected to the system.
The Acer Predator XB270HU is currently one of the best performers out there in terms of gaming monitors. It has fast refresh rates which makes for very smooth gaming up to 1440p resolution. The IPS panel display will recreate very accurate colors with good viewing angles, and a fast response rate to boot. However, to use the monitor to its fullest potential, users are advised to make use of a G-Sync compatible graphics card for their computer.
