Sony’s New SmartBand 2 Now Has a Heart-Rate Monitor
Like other known wearable fitness trackers, the Sony SmartBand 2 has a similar design to its initial predecessor. It contains all the tracking functionalities that the 1st wristband has but now has an optical heart-rate sensor embedded into the gadget. The sensor is a tiny, curved module located just beneath the device that will touch the surface of the skin when the band is worn.
When looking at the design, Sony’s new SmartBand is of minimalist in nature but a very attractive one at that. Initial colors are available in white or black, but the company will add a pink and indigo version sometime into the future. The design of the 2nd fitness band from Sony is considerably better than the 1st edition. It now introduces a latching metal buckle that the old one did not have. The buckle secures the tracker firmly onto the users wrist so there’s no worry of it falling off even when you’re running cross country. Ultimately, this fitness tracker is very comfortable on the wrist.
There is one button located at the side of this new fitness wristband from Sony. It is used to switch the device on and off, turn off or snooze alarms, and perform a number of other features. The band is also accompanied by three LEDs that are different in color. These lights indicate the battery status, connection status, and the mode the tracker is currently in.
The Sony SmartBand 2 is a magnificent fitness tracker at its purest. This also means that there is no embedded time piece on it. So if the user wants to know if they’re late for breakfast while they’re still out jogging around town, they’d have to check a watch or other time-telling device for that purpose.
