Just as its name suggests, the Roth Audio Sub Zero II is the second iteration to the original Roth Audio Sub Zero. Therefore, it is a soundbar which is designed to boost audio quality that would usually be found in terribly-sounding television sets. It can dish out amazing sound performance without the need for a separate subwoofer. What the company did is they squeezed active and passive bass drivers into the device’s slender frame. Therefore, it is a great addition for rooms that offer little space for comfort.
The Roth Audio Sub Zero II Brings Better Audio Without a Subwoofer
In terms of build quality, the Roth Audio Sub Zero II is a solid soundbar. In terms of design, it has the looks of a modern unit. It is reinforced with a polymer cabinet which is covered within a luxurious-looking black cloth which keeps everything clean and minimal. It is only 850-millimeters wide so it would ideally sit under TVs between 32 and 47-inches. It can also be mounted on a wall with the use of the supplied brackets. Otherwise, it can be placed on a tabletop.
When comparing this second iteration to the original Roth Audio Sub Zero, the slanted Vector Firing side drivers and Fractal Expansion technology are now gone. This newer model takes on a simpler forward-firing approach.
There is a front-mounted control panel which is now made smaller and more discreet. However, controlling the soundbar using this panel feels like it betrays the price for the unit. If it can be described in one word, that word would be “cheap.” Roth decided to place light and hard, clicky buttons instead of opting for LED readouts or touch capacitive controls. But nonetheless, the entire unit is placed in a moderate price point so this shortcoming can be forgivable.
What makes this soundbar stand out from the rest, aside from the non-inclusion of an additional subwoofer, is the built-in Bluetooth with apt-X. With this, it offers one step above in terms of performance than just using a regular A2DP technology. In other words, streaming music from compatible devices such as mobile phones, tablets, or laptops could not be any more simpler.
Overall, the Roth Audio Sub Zero II is an affordable soundbar that is equipped with great audio and a fantastic Bluetooth connectivity. This is a great choice for anyone wanting to improve living room experience without spending so much cash.
