The Epson Expression Photo XP-960 Small-in-One is placed within the company’s top-of-the-line models of multifunction printers (MFPs). For what it can offer, it does come into the market a bit overpriced, especially when you take a gander at its printing speeds. Speaking of which, it prints slowly and the quality of its text was even below par. But this is still well-worth considering should you be in need of a printer for home use, especially if you’re the type to print paper as large as 11 x 17-inches. But do take note that this is not for medium or heavy print use; this is designed for the occasional printing jobs that you may need around the home.
The Epson Expression Photo XP-960 Small-in-One is Designed for Home Use
While it is called an MFP, don’t let the Epson Expression Photo XP-960 Small-in-One make you immediately think that it is works like a full-fledged one. This is more of a general-purpose home printer rather than MFPs that can handle medium to heavy-duty office tasks.
Its core features are limited to printing from and scanning to a PC, along with working as a standalone copier. While it is placed within the MFP category, it lacks some important office-centric functionalities. For instance, it does not have an automatic document feeder (ADF), nor does it have fax capabilities. Still, it can be connected via Ethernet or Wi-Fi so you can easily share printing jobs over a network.
The XP-960 Small-in-One Printer can also print and scan to a memory card. It can even print and scan to a printable optical disc and copy an image from the unit’s scanner directly into the disc. It can also print directly from a memory card or a USB thumb drive. It has a 4.3-inch LCD touch capacitive screen which is big enough to give the printer commands easily.
For its price, paper handling is one of its disappointments, but it is better than what you can typically see in traditional home printers. Its main tray can only hold a miniscule 100-sheets and is only limited to a maximum size of 8.5 x 11-inch paper. Still, it is built with a duplexer, along with a second tray, which can hold up to 20 sheets of 5 x 7-inch photo papers.
Overall quality for text and graphics are subpar for the Epson Expression Photo XP-960 Small-in-One but printing speeds are above average. For home and office tasks that are not too demanding, then it can do okay. But for its meager set of features and packaged shortcomings, it comes into the market with a hefty price tag.
