If you’re a follower of Lenovo, then you’ll know they are the leader in the laptop-hybrid market; but can they still remain supreme with the Lenovo Yoga 900? To start, it has the latest Intel Core Skylake i5 and i7 processors. It also has a bigger battery life, to which the tech company claims it can provide up to 9 hours of use on a single full-charge. Like its predecessor, it is still a laptop-tablet hybrid. As such, it can be used with a keyboard, or simple just as a touchscreen slate. It even has four different modes: Laptop, Tent, Stand, Tablet.
With the Added Performance Boosts, Can the Lenovo Yoga 900 Stand Up to the Competition With Confidence?
Considering the hefty price tag of the Lenovo Yoga 900, it makes you wonder if it can stand up to the competition well. So let’s start with the positives. First, there is a “watchband” hinge that is also seen in the previous Yoga 3 Pro. This feature makes a reappearance on the 900 and it does give the device a more premium look and feel. The company claims that more than 800 pieces are used to make said hinge, which is slightly fewer found on the 3 Pro. Still, it allows for easy manipulation of the 360-degree rotation of the screen.
This is complemented with the new auto-lock feature for the Lenovo Yoga 900 Laptop-Hybrid. This functionality will allow the keyboard and screen to snap together whenever both devices are in close proximity. The reworked hinge makes the 900 one of the best foldable laptop-tablet hybrids available in today’s market.
There is also plenty of metallic finishes to go around with this device. It is probably a way to match up to the design quality seen on the MacBook. However, for the Yoga 900, this primarily works as a disadvantage. While it does look pleasing to the eyes, it still couldn’t match up the quality seen on Apple’s laptop.
Performance has been boosted immensely thanks to the new processors. However, there are many who fear that Lenovo will be caught once again to install a lot of bloatware on their Yoga 900. Thankfully, it would seem that they have listened, and they have promised to “significantly reduce preloaded applications,” and “become the leader in providing cleaner, safer PCs.” However, it would still seem that the tech company hardly lives up to that promise. Even though the number of preloaded apps were reduced, it was still many, and still an annoyance.
But even with the large number of additional apps from the company, the Lenovo Yoga 900 is still the best Yoga to-date. It is a well-designed ultrabook that offers more than decent performance. However, there are still some areas that need sprucing up to make it justify its heft of a price tag.
