A new video game Ys Net’s Shenmue 3 successfully hit target goal on a Kickstarter campaign. The original goal to hit was $2 million yet in less than the span of two hours after it was launched it already topped $1 million in contributions and became the second-fastest campaign to reach that milestone.
This new video game is set to be release in December 2017 on PC and PlayStation 4. Since it already achieved the goal the extra money that will be raised over the next 31 days will be used to finance additional features like cinema shorts ($2.6 million), subtitles in various languages ($2.7 to $2.9 million), and the rapport and skill tree systems ($3.2 and $3.5 million).
If ever the campaign will hit the goal double to $4 million, there will be five mini games, and the first of three new in-game locales: Baisha as promise by the game maker. Choubu and Bailu Village can be anticipated too if more money will pour on the on going campaign. The game maker is calling all the fans out there, if it can be push harder the return is fun and exciting
ABOUT THE GAME
From the its Kickstarter page, the game combines familiar elements with new fight mechanics to achieve a new level of interactive storytelling.
“Our ambition is to deliver a Shenmue experience that will draw in newcomers to the series and reward diehard fans with its deep story and rich gameplay,” the campaign said.
Players follow Ryo Hazuki on a journey through China in search of his father’s killer; along the way he meets traveling companion Shenhua. Together, they hunt the Chi You Men cartel, its boss Lan Di, and the deadly siren Niao Sun.
Asked about Why Kickstarter? The Producer of the game Yu Suzuki answered that, “If Shenmue 3 was going to get made, I wanted to make it with the fans.”
Fans can pledge $29 for a digital copy of the game, $60 for a physical copy, and $100 for the Shenmue 3 trial version.
Pony up $120 for one of four random action figures, or $160 for the bonus pack, chock full of rewards like MP3 downloads and a T-shirt. For the coffee-table-book aficionado, Suzuki has curated a $175 printed art book to add to your collection.
A few top rewards are still available, including the Kickstarter Collector’s Edition for $250, a signed edition for $300, and the toy capsule box set for $500.
Ryo’s original jacket—worn 14 years ago by Masaya Matsukaze at Shenmue press events—and the opportunity for dinner with Suzuki and original Shenmue scripts were already snatched up for $10,000 each.
The expectations of the fans for this game should be meet. In order for it to materialize the game maker needs more cash since the original and second version of this game were among the priciest video games ever made.
