Even though Microsoft has their own mobile operating system (their Windows system for mobile phones), it didn’t stop them from opening a public beta for a new keyboard for other smartphone systems, specifically speaking for the Apple’s iPhone. The company known for their Windows Operating System just recently began the private beta for their World Flow keyboard on Thursday, April 14, 2016. It had allowed users to sign up for an access to try and make use of the application as it is still in its refinement stages. Users who are able to gain access to using the keyboard will be able to install the app and replace the iOS keyboard with Word Flow.
Word Flow Keyboard From Microsoft is Introduced via Private Beta for iPhones
With the Word Flow keyboard from Microsoft, its main selling point is that of its one-handed typing mode. The keyboard is not your conventional typing interface that pops up as a rectangular keyboard found at the bottom of the screen of your mobile device. Instead, it is curved around one bottom corner of the screen or another. This makes it easier for people who could not make use of their other hand for any particular reason. This way, you can fire off a quick text message without having to fidget around with two hands.
There are also other features included within Microsoft’s Word Flow keyboard. For one, it can also sync with the phone’s list of contacts. This makes it able to auto-complete saved names in an easier fashion. Furthermore, for those who want a bit more style with their keyboard can change the way it looks with a variety of themes. This can make the keyboard look different other than the standard typing surface.
But what about emojis? Don’t worry as those lovable emoticons are not forgotten. Fans of using emojis almost every time when typing with their iPhone keyboard will still be able to insert their favorite smiley faces, cars, hand directions, food items, and more. However, the company seems to not want the iPhone to be the leader when it comes to using the Word Flow keyboard as they also showed off a new set of Windows 10 emojis within a recent beta build.
At the time of writing, it is unclear when Microsoft will make the Word Flow keyboard be available for everyone. Those interested in trying out the keyboard for their iPhones can check out the private beta release of the app in the company’s website. It is also not clear how the firm is picking out their testers, or how many will take advantage of the testing phase.
