Where headlines pertaining to racecars are usually dominated by the likes of Audi and BMW, it is not often that we are able to see Aston Martin take the center stage. With so many developments coming out of Gaydon, you won’t be surprised as to why such a scenario is happening. It’s only right that we put the spotlight on another new model that the company has in the works.
Aston Martin is Taking Over the Limelight With a New Model
The new model of Aston Martin, at least according to AutoCar, will be a race-focused variant of the V8 Vantage. It will also carry the name GT8. Therefore, it is primarily expected that it will follow on the footsteps of its V12 counterpart, which is the GT12. The GT12 is a similar version to that of the V12 Vantage to which the firm unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show back in 2015.
Just like the GT12, the Aston Martin GT8 will be developed with performance being one of its top priorities. It is being rumored as it being the lightest Vantage model to be ever made. Reports claim that the firm plans to achieve such a feat by using carbon fiber, aluminum, and titanium for the car’s construction. However, the nitty-gritty about the details for power and performance for the new vehicle are yet to be announced.
Nevertheless, given that the goal has already been established (at least, that’s what reports say), it will be a feathery light relative to other V8 Vantage vehicles. Hence, the GT8 is being looked to be a faster automobile that that of the V8 Vantage S. For those who are not in the know, the V8 Vantage S can go from 0 to 60-miles-per-hour in as little as three-tenths of a second. It makes a worthy rival to a car such as the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
Aside from its speed and performance, there is also no word on when will Aston Martin will make the GT8 become available on the market. However, it is reported that the company had already capped off the production to just 150-units. This is 50-units more than the 100 G12 models. Speaking of reports, a pricing structure is said to have already been made. The cost for getting the GT8 is a bargain compared to what you have to spend to get the G12. However, unlike its older brother, the GT8 has other options available to increase performance functionalities.
