Recently, Konami just unveiled the Survival Mode for Metal Gear Online, and they encourage players to play with it as much as they want. The firm also announced that the new downloadable content (DLC) will launched on the 7th of April of this year. Along with the announcement comes a teaser video which gives fans a sneak preview as to the new mode within the online multiplayer component of the Metal Gear Solid 5 videogame. There will also be a new matchmaking mode which will be part of the upcoming patch.
Metal Gear Online Introduces its Survival Mode
The name of the patch for Metal Gear Online will be called update 1.11. It was first revealed back in February and the new mode will let teams of six to compete against each other in a form of a series of matches. Those teams that are able to win five or more bouts in a row will even get special rewards. This is according to a report found in the game’s official blog.
While all players of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain will be able to have access to the new Survival Mode, those who are able to pick up the recent Cloaked in Silence expansion pack of the game will be able to get into the action without limitations. For other fans of the title, they will only be able to play 10 matches per week. This seems to be a move by Konami to let players purchase the expansion pack rather than sticking with the original title. Nevertheless, the free update will also have maps that are previously exclusive to DLC owners to be available to all players.
There is already a Survival mode that was included within the PlayStation 3 version of the game. A starter pack of the PS3 version also comes with the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. While the servers for the 4th installment of the Metal Gear Solid franchise shut down back in 2012, players are still able to go through with the story mode without any hitches.
This revamped version of Metal Gear Online was launched back in fall for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 home gaming consoles. Steam users, on the other hand, were able to get access to the campaign earlier this year. As for the Cloaked in Silence expansion pack, it arrived earlier in March. Said expansion pack brings in new maps and also allowed Quiet to become a playable character, just to name a couple of the additions that are found in the pack.
