Owners of the latest Apple TV should rejoice! It is about to get some upgrades to assist in controlling their televisions a lot better an easier. The update, dubbed the tvOS 92. will be applied to the set-top box very soon in which it will bring new features, such as voice control, and a better way to organize apps. Speaking of apps, the App Store now has 5,000 of them for the tech giant’s TV.
Apple TV Brings in New Features With Latest Update
With the tvOS 9.2 for the Apple TV, it will now let users to be able to use their own voices to input text, such as a username or a password. The remote’s built-in microphone can be used to search for a particular show. Therefore, it will eliminate the need for users to go about the on-screen keyboard using the remote before a character can be selected and then tapped.
Additionally, the Apple TV tvOS 9.2 update will allow users to search the App Store with the assistance of the firm’s popular AI, Siri. With this, it hopefully makes it easier for users to search for apps the way they want with the use of the cloud-based service’s virtual intelligence.
The tech giant is also giving users of the latest version of their set-top box with the ability to bundle multiple apps together in a single folder and name said folder with whatever they like. While this is already uncommon for mobile operating systems to have this, it is pleasant to know that it finally arrives for Apple’s TV. Furthermore, apps can now be kept inside categories so that they can be found more easily rather than flipping through the screen across multiple pages to search for a particular app.
The latest model is the fourth version of Apple’s TV and was unveiled back in September of last year and was immediately ready for shipping a month after that. Unlike its two previous generations, this variant comes with onboard storage which allows users to store content, such as apps and media, directly onto the device.
Tim Cook, Apple CEO, previously reported that apps are going to be the “Future of TV,” and he has also since argued that the Apple TV is going to play a critical role in bringing more applications to the living room instead of just being found at the palm of your hands within a mobile device. At the recent press conference in Cupertino, California, the CEO reiterated the notion.
