The 2017 Cadillac XT5 crossover is the car manufacturer’s second vehicle that will use their new taxonomic structure. From this point onwards, all of the automaker’s crossovers will begin with the “XT” initials and all of their cars will begin with CT. The number that is found at the end of the name will denote the size and position of the vehicle in Cadillac’s lineup.
The 2017 Cadillac XT5 is More Than Just a Change in its Name With Its Many Offerings
The 2017 Cadillac XT5, more specifically its chassis, is entirely different than that of the SRX’s. At its wheelbase, it is two-inches longer, and the track is one-inch wider. Those who experience the rear-seat of the 2017 crossover will find an extra 3.2 -inch of legroom than compared to that of the SRX. As a whole, the XT5 is 278 pounds lighter than the outgoing model. Furthermore, it is a full 100 pounds lighter as compared to its closest competitor which is the Audi Q5.
The 2017 XT5 has been pulled into the 21st century. It incorporates several design elements that are from the late-model Cadillacs. When looking at its headlights, they are slimmer, and there are also the standard LED running lights that follow down into the vertical fog light array.
For its exterior, there are sharper body lines on the hood and shoulder contour which will make your eyes move to the back of the car. As a whole, the vehicle is a more cohesive package that no longer has the semblance of other GM products.
It’s not just the exterior that has been completely redone as the interiors have been remade as well. The automaker has shifted the interior design with more horizontal lines. This will help when it comes to giving the feel of width and spaciousness. The old gauge cluster has been removed in favor of a partially digital three-ring setup. The Cadillac CUE touchscreen infotainment system is still there as it sits neatly in the center of the dashboard. The steering wheel gets a redesign as well and it now sports more buttons than its previous models.
The engine output of the 2017 Cadillac XT5 is estimated to have 310 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. It will sport a 3.6-liter six-cylinder engine, which is the same one found in the ATS, CT6, and CTS. There is only one transmission choice and that would be an eight-speed automatic. However, interested buyers can opt for either an all-wheel or a front-wheel drive.
