The 2016 Volvo S60 Cross Country T5 is a car that you can call as “something in-between.” It lies in a line between a sedan and a crossover to offer the best of both worlds. However, it does create some compromises in the process.
The 2016 Volvo S60 Cross Country T5 Brings Experiences From a Sedan and a Crossover
The 2016 Volvo S60 Cross Country T5 has a higher stance which makes it better for off-pavement performance. It also comes with a more rugged sense of style. It does retain much of what has made the original sedan to be appealing (such as performance and technology features), there is still plenty of extra features to go around.
It has a punchy performance from its five-cylinder turbocharged engine, and comes with plenty of standard and technology feature offerings. There is also a well-appointed cabin, the Sensus infotainment system, and a comprehensive suite of driver assists.
For its design, the 2016 S60 Cross Country T5 doesn’t look like other entry-level luxury sedans. It has a stance that is similar to what you can see on crossovers like the BMW X6. Additionally, there is a honeycomb grille and lower skid plate found at its front end which give the vehicle a more distinctive design. The black fender flares that frame the special Cross Country alloy wheels, gloss black window trim, outside mirror covers, lower rear skid plate, and side scuff plates all add to the effect of creating that distinct look.
With the Sensus Connect system in the vehicle, it is now unusual for many modern cars to be completely knob and button-based. It doesn’t even have a center console controller or a touchscreen interface. This can be difficult to operate than what it should offer.
The Cross Country T5 is not as fuel efficient as the car manufacturer’s other new four-cylinder models, but it does provide an extra kick in power. It has an extra height which results in a higher center of gravity. This means that this does not feel as planted onto the ground as the standard S60 model, or some rivals in this segment.
The 2016 Volvo S60 Cross Country T5 is a mid-sized luxury sedan that has the ability to perform on and off pavement, but more on than off. It has limited off-road prowess which also translates to a higher price tag. Its price point exceeds that of other small luxury crossovers like that of which is found for the Audi Q3. However, overall driving experience is smooth and also has a great infotainment system to boot.
