The 2016 Audi S5 Cabriolet has a long wheelbase and with the top down makes it look like a sedan with the roof chopped off. The exterior design is of a classic Audi generation where the front, rear, sides are all boxy yet retaining some aerodynamic function. At the same time, the overall look does not stray too far from your typical Audi sedan, even bright work is minimal, that is until you take notice that the S5 is a convertible and then you’ll say; “that’s one long convertible”.Under the hood, Audi updated the innards with a powerful supercharged 3Liter V6 offering 333hp and 325lb-ft of torque. The V6 is mated to a super quick seven speed DCT and transfers all power to all four wheels with a torque splitting rear differential.
At a premium asking price, the interior of the 2016 S5 Cabriolet is expected to be of premium quality also, Audi delivers on this promise and opted for the classy yet understated design that goes well with the exterior. The soft top is even padded well that it offers coupe-like sound dampening, it even features built in lamps to illuminate the rear passengers. Unlike roadsters, the S5 actually has rear seats that fit people and has the legroom to keep them from feeling like they’re about to lose their legs. The powered top can lower in 14 seconds and 17 seconds coming up.
Driving the S5 is a surprising experience given the long wheelbase of the car, the technology and power packed inside the convertible keeps everything fun. The chassis is well balanced with the suspension being as communicative to you letting you feel the road despite the weight of the vehicle. The supercharged V6 also delivers instant power and propels the car from 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds. Not only is it fun, the open top driving is perfectly suited for quiet cruising and the V6 also performs very well in this driving mode.
