2015 BMW 118i Urban Line Review - Surprisingly Placed at a Lower Price Point

The 2015 BMW 118i Urban Line is Surprisingly More Affordable (As Far As BMWs Go)

The 2015 BMW 118i Urban Line now takes its rightful place as being the cheapest vehicle to sport the BMW badge. It has a price tag similar to vehicles found in Hyundai that sports a similar size. Standard model comes with features such as cruise control, auto-headlights and wipers, remote central locking, cloth trim, up-spec satnav (with real-time traffic information), six-speaker stereo with USB and Bluetooth connectivity, power windows and mirrors, climate control, 16-inch alloys, rear parking sensors and reversing camera, and heated door mirrors.

It has a long bonnet and pushed-back cabin as part of its overall design. These will leave you with no doubt that it has a rear-wheel drive. It has, however, a tighter cabin than what you would expect from its front-wheeled competitors. While head and shoulder room is still considered good, the car narrows slightly at the rear. Also, the transmission hump is pretty big, which means that whoever sits in the rear-center won’t have the most comfortable riding experience.

It also has an array of safety features such as six airbags, corner braking control, stability and traction controls, ABS, brake assist, and pre-tensioned belts found at the front and rear.

For its engine, it carries a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo one that is under its long bonnet. It produces 100kW of power and a handy 220Nm of torque. These are identical figures to the four cylinder that preceded it. The engine is mated with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. The car manufacturer claims that the 118i Urban Line can dish out fuel consumption of 5.6L/100km and it can reach 0 to 100km/h in a matter of 8.7-seconds.

For its price, the 2015 BMW 118i Urban Line is an absolute bargain, well, as far as vehicles with the BMW branding go. However, you do get everything that’s good about the brand’s car DNA. There is a decent array of technology to keep everyone happy, and it even has the best handling in its class. This is all with its sporty rear-wheel drive performance.
