Asus just released the Zenfone 2 Laser last Tuesday. The Taiwanese electronics giant is cooking up new viral marketing strategies and tactics, and has already started with the early release of their new smartphone model. The company hopes to take control of 5 percent of India’s smartphone market by the year 2016. The new addition to the Zenfone smartphone line was made available to the Indian market 11 days ahead of its original release date. It was scheduled to release on September 19, 2015.
Asus Pushed the Release of the Zenfone 2 Laser Ahead of Release Date
The new release date was made possible after Asus received more than 30,000 pre-orders for the smartphone. The company claims that the number of orders were far more than what has been expected for the purchase of the Zenfone 2 Laser.
Peter Change, Regional Head of South Asia of Asus, had stated that the new entrant to the Zenfone line was received with much enthusiasm that the company had decided to change the release date to an earlier slot. The Regional Head also confirmed about the company’s plans to take control of the 5 percent of the Indian market share for smartphones by next year.
The new release date for the new entrant of the smartphone line is brought as a “reward” for their customers’ enthusiasm towards the brand. As a new tactic, this approach chimes in with recent innovators in online sales in which the move has been proven to be successful even by other mobile companies in the Indian market. For instance, Chinese phone maker, Xiaomi, had successfully sold about 40,000 phones in just 4 seconds after boosting the phone’s interest towards the public through the use of a limited sale via social media portals in September.
Specifications of the new 5.5 inch mobile phone includes a 1,280×720-pixel HD display and a 13MP rear camera. The rear camera also sports a laser autofocus for faster focusing and a dual-LED or dual tone flash for better picture quality. The smartphone can handle 1080p video recording at 30 frames-per-second. The front camera sports a 5MP camera albeit it does not have the laser autofocus that the rear camera has. Lastly, the phone has a Quad-core 1.2 GHz processor with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset.
Interested people who want to get their hands on the Zenfone 2 Laser can purchase through e-retailer Flipkart. Currently, customers are able to choose between a model with an internal memory of 8GB or 16GB.
